Over the years, kid’s fashion has evolved from baby blues, pinks, and yellows and expanded to bolder prints, patterns, and eye-grabbing textures. The Prince + The P’s closets are just as cool as their hair and I’m not mad about it. I don’t know about ya’ll, but my kids come with thoughts, opinions, and a toybox full of ideas and I love that fashion can be fun and expressive for all ages. Whether it’s aSuperhero tee paired with denim shorts and Dr. Martens or an oversized sweater with fun leggings, children’s fashion can’t be denied and neither can some of the dopest new brands around!
One of my new fave brands on the scene this year is Tressy Club! The obsession is so real and I feel like it’s exactly what the kid’s fashion industry (can’t you believe they have their own industry?!) needs. Tressy offers a pretty dynamic range, featuring monochromatic vibes, clean lines, and fun socks.
I asked Nicola Meiring, the owner and creative genius behind the brand, a few questions about her inspiration.
What made you create Tressy Club?
I have a graphic background and wanted to create something for my two girls that had a strong message about growing up as an equal. Coming from South Africa, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to have great quality garments made right on my doorstep.
What types of things inspire you when creating new designs?
We look to the 60’s for inspiration and Twiggy was a big influencer for us from Day 1.
How would you describe your brand as a whole?
As our bio says on Instagram, we inspire girls to grow up equal to boys and I think that describes Tressy perfectly.
Well, I couldn’t agree more! I’m looking forward to watching Tressy continue to grow and kill it BIG in kid’s fashion!
